Players & Stacks to Consider

Top Captains & Core Flex Plays

QB Jalen Hurts: It doesn’t sound like the illness that has earned Hurts a questionable tag will be enough to keep him sidelined tonight. I’m sure he’s not going to feel 100% since there was some actual doubt on whether or not he’d be able to play tonight, but Hurts is always a tough player to ignore on these showdown slates. The Eagles should be looking to right the ship after back-to-back blowout losses to the 49ers and Cowboys over the last two weeks. Aside from a couple of hiccups, Hurts has been one of the best floor/ceiling QB plays throughout the season and his -121 odds to score a (non-passing) touchdown are the strongest among any player in this game.

WR DK Metcalf: As mentioned time and time again this season, the Eagles' defense is a certified pass funnel. They do well against the run (well, not quite as much lately) but get absolutely torched through the air. They’ve allowed the most FPPG to WRs this season and the Eagles' secondary will be without starting CB Darius Slay (knee/out). Slay is having a poor season, along with the rest of the Philly DBs, but he’s still the highest-graded Eagles cornerback. In Slay’s absence, rookie CB Kelee Ringo could earn the start and draw the challenge of having to cover DK Metcalf for much of this game. Ringo has graded out awfully in limited snaps this season, so an exploitable match-up gets even better for Metcalf. It looks like QB Geno Smith will likely miss his second game in a row. It’s a downgrade with QB Drew Lock taking over, but Metcalf did connect with Lock on a touchdown last week and I’d expect the two to connect quite a bit tonight.

QB Drew Lock: In his week 14 spot start, Lock turned in a serviceable performance on the road against a quality 49ers defense. He completed 22/31 passes (71.0% comp%) for 269 yards (12.2 yards/completion), and two touchdowns. Lock also threw a pair of interceptions, but he ended with a respectable 17.26 DKFP score. Now he’ll get a chance to start at home versus a Swiss cheese Eagles pass defense that has allowed the most FPPG to QBs this season. The Eagles have been particularly bad over their last four games, where they’ve allowed a whopping 28.3 FPPG to opposing QBs.

Flex Plays and Leverage Captain Options

WR AJ Brown: It’s impossible for NFL teams to be fully healthy at this point in the season and the Seahawks defense is dealing with its fair share of bumps and bruises. AJ Brown is about as match-up proof as it gets but he should be looking forward to tonight’s game as Seattle has allowed the 5th most FPPG to WRs this season and 4th most over their last four games. Brown did not find the endzone in either of his last two games but he did command 13 targets both weeks. As long as Jalen Hurts (illness/questionable) isn’t too impacted by his illness, Brown should be a worthy FLEX target with plenty of captain upside as well.

WR DeVonta Smith: Smith has been on a nice run over the last month-plus. Across his previous four games, he’s averaging 9.3 targets/gm, 6.8 rec/gm, 93.5 YPG, and 19.6 FPPG. It feels strange to consider Smith a WR2 since he’d be the alpha receiver on most other NFL teams, but he is technically behind AJ Brown in most key receiving stats. I bring this up because the Seahawks check in at 29th in WR2 DVOA. There’s plenty of room for both of the stud Eagles WRs to pop off in primetime but it would not be a major surprise in the least if Smith ends up with the biggest performance of the night.

WR Tyler Lockett: It’s been a pretty ho-hum season for Lockett but he’s still capable of posting solid performances here and there. There’s no need to repeat all of the same things about how bad this Eagles pass defense is (see; DK Metcalf) but it’s worth noting that the Eagles are 30th in WR2 DVOA. Lockett did lead the team with 89 receiving yards last week in Drew Lock’s first start of the season, and the Lock/Lockett duo connected on all six targets. Furthermore, Lockett’s $6,600 showdown salary just seems a bit too cheap.

Flex Fillers, Fliers, and Sleepers

TE Dallas Goedert: He’s a little pricey to be considered a “flier” but Goedert should play around 90% of the snaps tonight and he can exploit Seattle’s zone-heavy coverage. The Seahawks check in at 21st in TE DVOA and, as previously mentioned, their defense is dealing with a sizable amount of injuries.

WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba: I don’t mind this $5,600 price tag for JSN. He has run 70% of his routes out of the slot and he should have some nice upside against an Eagles team that has allowed THE most FPPG to slot WRs throughout the entire season.

K Jake Elliott / K Jason Myers: When you get these games that have an over/under in the mid-40s, kickers tend to pop up in the optimal regularly. With Jalen Hurts possibly not at 100% and the Seahawks (presumably) starting their backup QB, I could see plenty of offensive drives stalling out in FG range. So we’ll keep Jake Elliott and Jason Myers on the radar as value plays.

RB Zach Charbonnet: The snap count was nearly 50/50 for Kenneth Walker III and Zach Charbonnet last week and so were the touches (KW3: 12 touches, Charbonnet: 10 touches). You’re getting sizable savings by going down to Charbonnet ($4,000) from Walker ($7,800). It’s not a stellar spot for either guy but the Eagles have been getting run on lately, and have allowed the 10th most FPPG to RBs L4Weeks.

TE Colby Parkinson: He’s playing 40-50% of the snaps regularly even when the other Seahawks TEs are healthy. Parkinson was on the receiving end of one of Drew Lock’s two TD passes last week. At the minimum of $200, Parkinson is worth a touchdown-or-bust lotto ticket.

Stack Concepts

Note: [*Player Name] indicates captain selection.

*QB Jalen Hurts, WR AJ Brown, WR DeVonta Smith: Standard CPTN Hurts double-stack. This stack eats up a huge chunk of salary and Hurts perhaps not being 100% does spark some concern. But the target distribution in this offense runs heavily through Brown and Smith. It’s one of the better match-ups they could hope for and I believe the Eagles will want to make a statement on offense after getting embarrassed the last couple of weeks.

*WR DK Metcalf, QB Drew Lock, K Jason Myers: Metcalf owns huge touchdown equity in this offense thanks to a hefty 34.7% redzone target%. He could be running most of his routes against a rookie corner tonight and, while I don’t know if we can expect anything close to what he did in week 13 against the Cowboys on Thursday Night Football (8/6/134/3 - 40.4 DKFP), this is a dream match-up versus a porous Eagles secondary. Stack him with Lock in the FLEX and throw in the Seahawks kicker for some correlation (someone has to move the ball and help set up FG attempts).

*QB Drew Lock, WR DK Metcalf, WR Tyler Lockett: Standard CPTN Lock double-stack. I would “lock” in at least one of Metcalf or Lockett in any CPTN Lock lineup. But, other SEA pass catchers to consider as stackable options include (in order of preference): WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba, TE Noah Fant, and TE Colby Parkinson.

*WR AJ Brown, QB Jalen Hurts, WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba: AJ Brown can go off in any given week but he hasn’t had a patented monster game since week eight against Washington. That may keep people away from him as a captain play tonight but he could certainly end up breaking the slate in a plus match-up. Stack him with Hurts and, due to the high cost of that WR/QB duo, we’ll use JSN as an affordable bring-back play, leaving a manageable $5,400/player for the remaining three FLEX spots.

*WR DeVonta Smith, QB Jalen Hurts, WR Tyler Lockett: Similar concept as above, just switching out Brown for Smith at captain and upgrading the bring-back play from JSN to Lockett. As mentioned in Smith and Lockett’s spotlighted segments, both defenses in this game struggle against WR2s, so I like the idea of playing both WR2s in the same lineup. And, of course, with DeVonta Smith at captain, we’ll want to slide Hurts in at the FLEX.

PrizePicks Primetime Power Play ⚡

Here is a two-pick “Power Play” I’m liking for this game over on PrizePicks! Nothing is ever a guarantee to hit but if it hits, it will return 3x the wager.

DeVonta Smith MORE than 56.5 Receiving Yards

DK Metcalf MORE than 0.5 Rush + Rec TDs
