Players to Consider
Top Captains/MVPs & Core FLEX Plays đ
RB Saquon Barkley, PHI: The âBarkley revenge narrativeâ will be a big talking point surrounding this game, and I totally get it -- Saquon could certainly have a little extra juice in the tank tonight, and he ran for 176 yards on 17 attempts against his former team in week seven of last season. But he also hasnât been as dominant this season, averaging a pedestrian 3.2 YPC. However, he has been facing some tougher run defenses. Despite the general lack of production from a yardage standpoint, Barkley has found the end zone in 4 of 5 games, and the volume has remained strong (20.0 touches/gm). Aside from the revenge factor, the matchup itself is also a main reason why Barkley will remain a top captain/MVP option. The Giants rank dead last in rush DVOA, and theyâve surrendered the 6th-most FPPG to RBs this season. Even with the threat of Jalen Hurts getting pushed into the endzone on the goal line, the floor for Barkley tonight does feel like 100+ yards and a TD. In a potential lower-scoring game, that may be plenty enough for him to end the night as the optimal captain/MVP.
QB Jalen Hurts, PHI: Much like Saquon, the fantasy production has been nothing spectacular for Hurts, but it has been fairly consistent -- Hurts has scored 19.4 FP in 4-of-5 games. He has punched in three rushing scores and, in recent weeks, he has gotten things rolling through the air a bit more with a 7:0 TD:INT ratio L3Games and a season-high 280 passing yards in week five. The Giants have faced the 7th-highest PassPlay% (60.7%) and the 4th-most pass attempts/gm (38.0). That doesnât necessarily mean the Eagles will abandon their run-first approach, but the potential for increased Hurts passing volume is there. If the âBarkley revenge narrativeâ ends up busting, Hurts is the most likely player to end the night as the optimal captain/MVP.
WR DeVonta Smith, PHI: With Hurtsâ recent success through the air, Smith has put forth a couple of strong receiving lines over the last three games, and heâll have a solid shot at another big night this evening. Smith has hauled in 83.3% of his targets this season while running a route on 97.4% of Jalen Hurts' dropbacks. He has run around 60% of his routes out of the slot, which equates to the best matchup for PHI WRs as the Giants have allowed the 4th-most FPPG to slot WRs this season.

Flex Plays and Leverage Captain/MVP Options đ
QB Jaxson Dart, NYG: The outlook is fairly grim for this Giants offense this evening, but if they hope to pull off the upset, Dart will have to put up a stellar performance. The NYG receiving corps is very thin -- superstar WR Malik Nabers was lost for the season in week four, and veteran WR Darius Slayton will miss tonightâs action due to a hamstring injury. But the game script will still likely force the Giants into a pass-happy approach, and we should see plenty of Dart rush attempts as well. 47.4% of Dartâs rush attempts this season have been by design, and he has gone over 50 rushing yards in both of his starts. As long as he can just be adequate in the passing game, which will likely feature a ton of âdink and dunk,â then Dartâs rushing upside gives him plenty of potential to be an optimal FLEX.
WR AJ Brown, PHI: The lack of production through five games is going to keep Brownâs ownership down quite a bit, at least by single-game standards. And yet, he does possess arguably the highest ceiling in this game. Brown does lead the Eagles with a 27.3% Target% and 36.6% AirYard%, and he has seen at least eight targets in each of the last four games. However, only 61.1% of his targets on the season have been deemed âcatchable,â so his sparse production hasnât entirely been his fault. If Hurts can put a couple of deep throws on the money in Brownâs direction, it could be a big night for the frustrated star receiver.
TE Theo Johnson, NYG: Theo Johnson could see an expanded role tonight with the Giantsâ current WR woes, and we can likely expect them to deploy plenty of 12 personnel (1 RB, 2 TEs, 2 WRs). Johnson has also shown a strong connection with rookie QB Jaxson Dart, particularly in the redzone, where he has been on the receiving end of all three of Dartâs passing TDs over the last two weeks. He owns a monster 36.4% RedZone Target% on the season. It is not an ideal matchup whatsoever (PHI: 1st in TE DVOA, 5th fewest adjusted FP allowed), but, if the volume is there, along with perhaps another TD grab, then Johnson is one of the better bets on the NYG side to end the night as an optimal play.

Flex Fillers, Fliers, and Sleepers đ€
TE Dallas Goedert, PHI: Similar to Theo Johnson, Dallas Goedert has made his presence felt in the redzone (25.0% RZ Target%), and he has four receiving TDs within the last three games. Like the Eagles, the Giants' defense has been stout versus TEs (7th in TE DVOA), but Goedertâs TD upside makes him a perfectly fine FLEX option even in a more difficult matchup. The absence of backup TE Grant Calcaterra tonight also raises Goedertâs floor slightly.
Eagles D/ST: The Eagles D/ST is the clear option in this game if youâre rolling a D/ST. QB Jaxson Dart is a talented playmaker with his legs, but he has yet to thoroughly impress with his arm. In a trailing game script last week, Dart committed three turnovers (2 INT, 1 FUM). The Eagles are 10th in the NFL in forced turnover rate.
K Jake Elliott, PHI, and K Jude McAtamney, NYG: Itâs not the best-looking script for kickers, but, with a 40.5 over/under, we may very well see more FG attempts than TDs. It is going to be chilly in New York tonight, around 50 degrees, but no wind issues.
WR Jahan Dotson, PHI: Dotson is a distance 5th in the target pecking order for the Eagles (behind Brown, Smith, Goedert, and Barkley), but, when he has been targeted, itâs typically deep down the field, given his 17.6-yard aDOT (highest on team). Dotson has also played at least a 72% snap% in two of the last three games, so he could be out there for most of the snaps, especially if the Giants manage to keep this game close. Heâll need to connect on a big play or two to crack the optimal, but that is certainly a possibility versus a beatable Giants secondary.
WR Jalin Hyatt, NYG: Hyatt has yet to live up to his big-play hype that led the Giants to draft him in the 3rd round of the 2023 draft. But, by necessity due to the Giantsâ current lack of WR depth, heâs likely going to be out there for most of the offensive snaps and see a handful of targets. Still, he is very much a boom-or-bust option (with more potential to bust).
WR Beaux Collins, NYG: Collins is another Giants WR who will likely handle increased snaps. Unlike Hyatt, Collins is more of a short aDOT WR, so he does have a bit of a floor in this game.
TE Daniel Bellinger, NYG: Bellinger profiled as one of the better âpuntâ plays this evening, with the Giants likely deploying more two-TE sets. He played a season-high 52% snap% last week, and Iâd be surprised if heâs out there for less than half of the snaps tonight. With his increased playing time last week, Bellinger brought in 4-of-4 targets for 52 yards -- he was the first read on three of those four targets.
TE Kylen Granson, PHI: Granson will be elevated to the TE2 role with Calcaterra out and should play anywhere from 40% to 60% of the snaps. When Goedert sat out week two, Granson logged a 57% snap%. Heâs a long shot to see any significant usage in the passing game, but the simple fact that heâll be out there on more snaps and running some routes gives him some appeal as a total punt play.
Stack Concepts đ„
[*Player Name] represents captain/MVP play.
*RB Saquon Barkley, QB Jaxson Dart, TE Theo Johnson: Itâs been a slow start to the season, by his lofty standards, but itâs only a matter of time before Saquon erupts for a massive game. The odds of that happening against his former Giants team are fairly high, especially when factoring in the awful Giants run D. With Saquon at CPT/MVP, weâll roll a Dart + NYG pass catcher as a bring back correlation stack.
*QB Jalen Hurts, WR DeVonta Smith, WR AJ Brown: Standard CPT/MVP Hurts double-stack featuring his two most-targeted WRs. This is an expensive trio, so it will likely mean youâll have to fade Saquon in this lineup build. Given Hurtsâ rushing ability, it isnât absolutely necessary to double-stack with him, but other PHI pass catchers to mix into CPT/MVP Hurts lineups (in order of preference) include: TE Dallas Goedert, RB Saquon Barkley, WR Jahan Dotson, TE Kylen Granson, WR John Metchie III.
*WR DeVonta Smith, QB Jalen Hurts, TE Daniel Bellinger: As discussed, Smith does draw the best matchup among PHI WRs out of the slot (NYG: 4th most FPPG allowed to slot WRs), so this could be another strong performance for him. Stack with Hurts in the FLEX and, to save some salary, weâll punt with Bellinger as a cheap bring-back play.
*QB Jaxson Dart, WR WanâDale Robinson, TE Theo Johnson: Standard CPT/MVP Dart double-stack. Double-stacking Dart will be a risky proposition, but there could be plenty of targets to go around to Giants receivers tonight, and none of them are overly expensive. And we should see Dart make plenty of plays, or at least attempt to, with his legs. Other NYG pass catchers to mix into CPT/MVP Dart lineups (in order of preference): WR Beaux Collins, RB Cam Skattebo, TE Daniel Bellinger, WR Jalin Hyatt, RB Tyrone Tracy Jr.
*WR AJ Brown, QB Jalen Hurts, K Jake Elliott: Predicting AJ Brown's ceiling games looks like it will be more difficult than usual this season, but this is a spot where he could thrive. And, as mentioned in his player spotlight, his lack of consistent production this season hasnât been entirely his fault. Stack with Hurts (and hope for some more accurate passes in Brownâs direction) and, to save some salary, roll with kicker Jake Elliott, which operates as a correlating play as well (someone has to move the ball to set up FG attempts).
*TE Theo Johnson, QB Jaxson Dart, RB Saquon Barkley: Johnson has been Dartâs go-to weapon in the red zone, so if the Giants can move the ball somewhat consistently tonight, Iâm liking Johnsonâs TD equity. The target volume should also be solid with the current Giants WR injuries factored in. Stack with Dart and, given his affordability as a CPT/MVP play, we can easily fit Saquon in as a premier bring-back play.
