Sunday Night Football: Giants at Commanders | LineStar NFL DFS Primetime Preview šŸ“ŗ

An NFC East divisional clash is on tap for Sunday Night Football! After tying in their first meeting two weeks ago, the Giants and Commanders both hold a 7-5-1 record and are still in the hunt for an NFC playoff berth. A win tonight will go a long way in achieving that goal. Let's dig into some DFS plays, strategies, and props to consider this evening!

Players & Stacks to Consider

Top Captains and Core Flex Plays:

QB Daniel Jones: Unlike many other primetime match-ups, there really aren't any standout captain plays in this game. Daniel Jones should be in the captain conversation, however, thanks to his rushing upside which is always invaluable when it comes to QBs. Jones is averaging 42.2 rushing YPG this season with five TDs on the ground. When these two teams met two weeks ago, Jones was able to rack up 71 yards on the ground on a season-high 12 rush attempts. That was in addition to his 200 yards passing and one TD -- a game performance that earned him a respectable 18.1 DKFP. Heā€™ll provide DFS lineups with a quality floor and, while unlikely, he has shown off 30+ DKFP upside in multiple games this season.

QB Taylor Heinicke: Weā€™ll go to the other QB in this game and highlight Heinicke as another captain play. The Commanders are coming in fresh out of their bye week so some extra time to rest up and gameplan is rarely a bad thing. Heinicke found some legitimate success against this Giants' defense in week 13 when he completed 65.9% of his passes for 275 yards and a pair of TDs. The Giants are very thin in the secondary, down multiple starters, and they check in ranking 26th in pass DVOA. Similar to Daniel Jones, we should view Heinicke as a strong floor option though the ceiling is a bit more limited.

WR Terry McLaurin: Probably my personal favorite captain candidate. McLaurin went off on this Giants secondary in his last game, reaching a season-high in targets and receptions with a final target + receiving line of 12-8-105-1. Ever since Heinicke took over the starting QB gig in week seven, McLaurin has commanded an elite 30.8% TGT% and owns a massive 51.1% share of Washingtonā€™s total air yards in that span. As noted above, the Giants' secondary is riddled with injuries -- theyā€™re down their top two cornerbacks and one of their safeties. New York also allowed +27% more FPPG to WRs when playing on the road. Overall, consider McLaurin to be one of the best captain options in this match-up.

Flex Plays and Leverage Captain Options:

RB Saquon Barkley: Washington is very stout against the run, ranking 4th in rush DVOA and theyā€™ve allowed the 3rd fewest FPPG to RBs. With that in mind, it may be best to skip paying the 1.5x premium for Saquon ($12,200 | CPT: $18,300) and view him as more of a FLEX play. He did have a solid enough game against Washington a couple of weeks ago, taking 18 carries for 63 yards and a TD while catching all five of his targets. His high touchdown equity does keep him in the captain conversation but, in this match-up, he is more of a volume-based high-end FLEX option.

RB Brian Robinson Jr.: Robinson and Antonio Gibson continue to split snaps fairly evenly, but it has been clear that Washington views Robinson as their ground-and-pound back between the tackles. Robinson has averaged 20.0 carries/gm over his last four and, over the last two weeks, he has racked up 236 total yards on 43 touches (39 carries, four receptions). He draws a plus match-up against a Giants defense that allows a league-high 5.4 YPC and ranks 31st in rush DVOA.

WR Darius Slayton: The Commanders are much more beatable through the air than on the ground. Slayton has been operating as the Giantsā€™ WR1 by default and posted a solid target + receiving line of 8-6-90-0 against Washington two weeks ago. Before facing an excellent Eagles defense last week, Slayton had either caught a touchdown or had 63+ receiving yards in each of his previous six games.

Flex Fillers, Fliers, and Sleepers:

WR Richie James Jr.: Richie James has been a reliable target for Daniel Jones in recent weeks and he has brought in a touchdown in three of his last four games. James plays primarily out of the slot (80% slot%) so heā€™s seeing plenty of high percentage targets that have led to a highly impressive 80.9% catch% on the season. In week 14, James led all Giants WRs with an 87% snap% and nine targets -- both figures represented season highs.

K Graham Gano / K Joey Slye: Both kickers are fine FLEX options if you need the savings. This feels like one of those games where both offenses can have some moderate success moving the ball but still have several drives stall out in field goal range. Both Gano and Slye had three field goal attempts when these two teams faced off in week 13.

Commanders D/ST: Washingtonā€™s D/ST is averaging 12.0 FPPG over their last four and they should have pass rusher Chase Young available for the first time this season. Daniel Jones has been the third-most sacked QB in the NFL this season, though the Giants are tied for the fewest giveaways in the league.

TE John Bates: Your classic backup tight end GPP dart throw. Bates did play over half of the snaps in Washingtonā€™s last game and caught 3-of-4 targets for 24 yards and a TD in week 12.

Sunday Night Football TD Call šŸˆ

RB Brian Robinson Jr.

Stack Concepts:

Note: [*Player Name] indicates captain selection.

*QB Daniel Jones, WR Darius Slayton, WR Richie James Jr.: Standard CPTN Jones double stack.

*QB Taylor Heinicke, WR Terry McLaurin, WR Curtis Samuel: Standard CPTN Heinicke double stack.

*WR Terry McLaurin, QB Taylor Heinicke, RB Saquon Barkley: This three-man stack eats up a big chunk of salary ($4,366 rem/player for the other three FLEX spots) but it does provide a high floor. As mentioned above, McLaurin is my favorite captain option in this game. Not only does his 51.1% AirYard% lead the team since Heinicke took over eight weeks ago, but it also leads the entire NFL in that span -- and his 30.8% TGT% in that same span trails only Tyreek Hill and Davante Adams. Good company to keep.

*RB Saquon Barkley, RB Brian Robinson Jr., K Graham Gano: This match-up could easily follow a slow, ground-and-pound game flow. Both Saquon and Robinson handled 20+ touches when these two teams clashed two weeks ago so pairing both guys in the same lineup could gain exposure to a ton of volume. Weā€™ll throw in a kicker in the FLEX to offset Barkleyā€™s massive captain salary.

*RB Brian Robinson Jr., Washington D/ST, WR Darius Slayton: With Robinson now established as Washingtonā€™s clear primary ball carrier, heā€™ll make ample sense as a captain play and owns plenty of touchdown equity against a porous Giants run defense. Stack him with the Washington D/ST for correlation purposes and run it back with a Giants WR.

*WR Darius Slayton, QB Daniel Jones, WR Terry McLaurin: Slayton had a down week against the Eagles but heā€™s been very solid for the better part of the last two months. Washington is a middle-of-the-road pass defense and Slayton racked up his second-highest receiving yardage total of the season against them in week 13. As usual, with any WR at captain, weā€™ll stack him with his QB and run it back with a high-floor option like Terry McLaurin on the other side.

PrizePicks SNF Power Play āš”

Here is a two-pick "Power Play" Iā€™m liking for Sunday Night Football over on PrizePicks! Nothing is ever a guarantee to hit but these prop parlays have been treating us pretty well overall this season so let's keep it rolling! If it hits, it will return 3x the wager.

Daniel Jones MORE than 0.5 Pass TDs (Discounted Prop)

Brian Robinson MORE than 66.5 Rush Yards
