Players & Stacks to Consider

Top Captains and Core Flex Plays:

QB Aaron Rodgers: Rodgers has had a limited fantasy ceiling this season with a max of 20.36 DKFP scored in a single game. However, in a “win and in” scenario for the Packers, you have to imagine that Rodgers will be playing with maximum motivation tonight. He threw for a season-high 291 yards when these teams met in week nine and the match-up remains ideal against a Lions defense that allows the most FPPG to QBs. There may be higher ceiling options to roll out at captain tonight but Rodgers owns arguably the safest floor in this game.

WR Christian Watson: He has cooled off since his explosive four-game stretch between weeks 10 and 13 but Watson remains a high upside option in what is a stellar match-up. The Lions have surrendered the 4th most FPPG to WRs this season and, even though he is on a three-game touchdown drought, Watson has still seen six redzone targets over the last three games.

RB Jamaal Williams: Even if Seattle wins and crushes Detroit’s playoff hopes, I believe that we’ll see the Lions play their normal starters for all, or nearly all, of this entire game… maybe some early rest in the fourth quarter for certain guys. With that in mind, Jamaal Williams sticks out as a Detroit player to target since he’ll have as much multi-touchdown upside as any other player in this game. Williams has punched in 15 rushing TDs and has a remarkable 52 redzone rush attempts on the season. The Packers rank 31st in rush DVOA and while D’Andre Swift will eat into Williams’ touches, the latter still has a great chance at 15+ touches and a touchdown or two.

Flex Plays and Leverage Captain Options:

WR Amon-Ra St. Brown: The Sun God is the most expensive player in this game so he’ll need a massive game to pay off that $11,000 (CPT: $16,500) salary. A huge game is not out of the question but he seems to be more of a preferred FLEX play. St. Brown owns an elite 28.5% TGT% and has caught 73.0% of his targets on the season. However, he does run the majority of his routes (59%) out of the slot, which is where Green Bay’s secondary has been the stingiest (6th fewest FPPG allowed to slot WRs). With that said, St. Brown will see guaranteed targets, and if he struggles to get things going out of the slot, look for him to run more routes on the perimeter.

QB Jared Goff: The big knock on Goff this season has been his inability to consistently play well on the road (42.4% fewer FPPG on the road this season). However, he did buck that trend a couple of weeks ago when he exploded for 355 yards and three TDs on the road against the Panthers. Green Bay is a fairly tough match-up and they have allowed 35% fewer FPPG to QBs when playing at Lambeau Field, but when Goff is locked in, he can provide a massive fantasy score.

WR DJ Chark Jr.: It’s a sneaky decent match-up for Chark (74% perimeter%) who faces a Packers secondary that has struggled to defend perimeter WRs over the last couple of months (4th most FPPG allowed to perimeter WRs L8Gms). Chark is perceived as the big play threat in this passing game and owns a team-high 16.0-yard aDOT and averages 10.2 yards per target.

Flex Fillers, Fliers, and Sleepers:

WR Romeo Doubs: He’s been a bit banged up this season but Doubs has shown some solid rapport with Aaron Rodgers at times. He has big play ability in a strong match-up and should be a strong bet for 5-8 targets this evening.

K Mason Crosby / K Michael Badgley: Both kickers have multiple FGA and at least 8.0 fantasy points in four of their last five games. Either kicker is a sensible value target tonight, though kicking conditions may not be absolutely ideal (freezing temps w/ ~10 mph winds).

TE Brock Wright / TE Shane Zylstra: Lions' tight ends have combined for six touchdown catches in the last three games. Zylstra came out of nowhere in week 16 with his three-touchdown performance, while Wright hauled in a pair of touchdowns last week with another TD in week 15. They’re not putting up massive yardage totals but both will be worthy of a dart throw (not together in the same lineup, however) since Jared Goff is clearly looking for his big-bodied targets once Detroit moves closer to the endzone.

Stack Concepts:

Note: [*Player Name] indicates captain selection.

*QB Aaron Rodgers, WR Christian Watson, WR Romeo Doubs: Standard CPT Rodgers double stack.

*WR Christian Watson, QB Aaron Rodgers, WR DJ Chark Jr.: Strong upside with this three-man stack with Watson and Chark both representing big-play threats with moderately high touchdown potential.

*RB Jamaal Williams, WR Amon-Ra St. Brown, RB AJ Dillon: This game owns the highest total of the week but it could easily turn into a “ground and pound + dink and dunk” sort of game script instead of an all-out pass-heavy shootout. If that is the case, this three-man stack may work out well with Williams and Dillon churning things out on the ground and St. Brown catching several short-to-intermediate passes.

*WR Amon-Ra St. Brown, QB Jared Goff, TE Brock Wright: It’s been a while since St. Brown exploded for a massive game but the floor remains rock-solid, he just hasn’t scored a touchdown in a hot minute. He still has eight redzone targets in the last three games so he could end his touchdown drought tonight if Goff continues to look for him near the endzone. St. Brown will be the costliest captain option in this game so we’ll load up TE Brock Wright for some salary relief.

*QB Jared Goff, WR Amon-Ra St. Brown, WR DJ Chark Jr.: Standard CPT Goff double stack.
