Players & Stacks to Consider

Top Captains and Core Flex Plays:

QB Josh Allen: One of the most obvious captain choices in NFL showdown history. There is not much convincing needed here. I mean, Allen’s ‘worst’ fantasy performance of the season still netted him 24.52 DKFP. The only real concern with Allen is the strong possibility of a blowout but the Bills have stayed aggressive even when they’ve been up huge on the scoreboard this season.

WR Stefon Diggs: Obvious captain play No. 2. Diggs has averaged 10.8 TGT/gm this season which is good for a 27.7% TGT%. He’s been Allen’s go-to option in the redzone where his TGT% rises to 34.3%. Whenever he is on the perimeter (62% perimeter%), Diggs will almost certainly face shadow coverage from top Packers CB Jaire Alexander. That will decrease his chances of posting a ceiling performance, but Diggs is borderline match-up proof and Alexander has not been at the top of his game this season.

WR Gabe Davis: I don’t usually look to only highlight players from one team in the captain section, but it does feel like one of these three guys is incredibly likely to end up as the optimal captain. While the Packers' defense has allowed the 7th fewest FPPG to opposing WRs, they have also faced the fewest WR targets (105) in the NFL. With Diggs dealing with perimeter shadow coverage on the perimeter, Gabe Davis will see plenty of coverage from CB Eric Stokes. That will represent a plus match-up and Davis is the big play receiving threat in this prolific Bills offense evidenced by his 16.7-yard aDOT.

Flex Plays and Leverage Captain Options:

QB Aaron Rodgers: The much-maligned Aaron Rodgers might not be putting up his usual MVP-caliber numbers this year, but he has scored between 15.76 and 17.36 DKFP in five-of-seven games this season. He is hampered by a patchwork receiving corps, and he’ll be without perhaps his most reliable target in Allen Lazard (shoulder) and long-time teammate Randall Cobb (ankle/IR). With that said, it’s still Aaron Rodgers and if the Packers have any hope of winning this game, it’s going to be on the shoulders of a huge game from Rodgers.

WR Romeo Doubs: The rookie WR failed to catch any of his four targets last week, but he has shown some decent rapport with Rodgers at times this season. With the injuries to the other Packers' WRs, Doubs can be expected to play nearly 100% of snaps in what will likely be a pass-heavy game script for Green Bay. The Bills' defense is stout, but they’re more vulnerable against the pass than the run. Over their last four games, the Bills have allowed the 4th most FPPG to perimeter WRs (Doubs: 80% perimeter%). Doubs is far too underpriced at $4,000 on DraftKings given his projected role.

RB Devin Singletary: His upside takes a hit due to Josh Allen’s rushing prowess, especially close to the goal line, but Singletary did handle a season-high 21 touches in their last game while playing 86% of snaps. The Packers have also allowed the 9th most FPPG and 5.1 YPC to RBs this season. Any player who is on the field in this elite Bills offense as much as Singletary is carries plenty of touchdown equity so keep Singletary firmly on the FLEX/contrarian captain radar tonight.

Flex Fillers, Fliers, and Sleepers:

Bills D/ST: This is only the third Bills home game of the season so you know Bills Mafia is going to be rowdy for this primetime match-up against Aaron Rodgers. And it’s probably a really bad time to be a table in Buffalo today. The Bills' defense scored 20 FP and 12 FP in their other two home games this season and they’ll have double-digit FP upside against a sputtering Packers offense tonight as well.

K Tyler Bass OR K Mason Crosby: As per usual, kickers are almost always worthy value options on these showdown slates. The Packers' offensive woes have translated over to Crosby’s FG opportunities as well, but I could still see multiple FGA for him tonight. On the other side, the Bills score so many touchdowns that usually Bass is on the field for PATs and not field goals. However, he has had multiple FG opportunities in four of his last five games. Winds also won’t be much of an issue in Buffalo tonight.

WR Sammy Watkins: Watkins returned from a four-week absence last week to play 52% of snaps, and he caught 2-of-4 targets for 36 yards. Considering that Allen Lazard played 59% of snaps in that game, Watkins’ snap% will certainly increase this week. Watkins is the most experienced healthy receiver the Packers have so it wouldn’t be a surprise if he ended the night as their leading receiver in this game. He’s also primarily utilized on the perimeter which, as mentioned above with Doubs, is where the Bills’ secondary has struggled in recent weeks.

WR Christian Watson: Watson is currently questionable to play due to a hamstring injury, but if he is active, he’s worth a look as a dart throw FLEX option. He’s an inexperienced rookie who is mostly known for an awful drop he had earlier this season on what would have been a surefire touchdown. But the Packers need bodies at receiver so he would be in line for a significant snap share (if he suits up).

Sunday Night Football TD Call 🏈

WR Gabe Davis

Stack Concepts:

Note: [*Player Name] indicates captain selection.

*QB Josh Allen, WR Stefon Diggs, WR Gabe Davis: Standard CPTN Allen double stack. This particular stack will eat up most of your budget (Avg.Rem./Player $3,833 on DK) but with the Packers WR value and other cheap options like kickers or D/STs, it’s doable.

*WR Stefon Diggs, QB Josh Allen, WR Romeo Doubs: For any lineup with a Bills receiver at captain, it’s almost essential you also play Allen in the FLEX for correlation purposes. This is another expensive stack but we can open up some salary by running it back with an affordable Romeo Doubs on the Packers' side of the ball.

*WR Gabe Davis, QB Josh Allen, WR Sammy Watkins (Fade Stefon Diggs): Similar concept as above but I would consider fading Diggs in any CPTN Davis lineup. As mentioned in the player breakdown, Diggs will see a lot of shadow coverage from Jaire Alexander tonight. Alexander has not been amazing this season, but if that leads to Diggs having just an ‘okay’ game and Gabe Davis goes off, Diggs will not likely land in as an optimal play due to his lofty showdown salary.

*QB Aaron Rodgers, WR Romeo Doubs, WR Sammy Watkins: Everyone is down on Rodgers, and rightfully so. But unexpected things happen in these primetime games so if Rodgers and his ragtag group of receivers click in a big way tonight, a CPTN Rodgers double stack may take down some GPPs. Not likely, but possible.

5-1 Bills “Smash” Stack (GPP only): If the Bills win this game with some sort of 31-10 type of score, a 5-1 Bills-heavy “smash” lineup may end up being optimal.

Fade Josh Allen (GPP Only): Whether he’s in at captain or the FLEX, Josh Allen is likely going to be 90+% owned in GPPs tonight. You’re getting immediate leverage by excluding him from any tournament lineup. Allen would need to have his worst game of the season to *not* end up as at least an optimal FLEX play, but this is certainly one way to be contrarian in a DFS format where it can be tough to separate yourself from the crowd. I would not recommend this if you’re only playing a single lineup.
