Week 5 DFS Main Slate Rundown šŸ“

Hey, can we all agree that there was no Thursday Night Football game this week and now week five will officially begin on Sunday?

Now that every NFL team has four games in the books, we're starting to get a really solid idea of how each team intends to operate this season. Another loaded Sunday awaits so let's keep crushing these NFL DFS plays and prop bets!

Main slate match-ups with implied point totals and spreads:

Weather Report

As a reminder, weather plays less of a factor in football than it does in other sports but it is still worth making note of any games that could see wet conditions, high winds, or (when we get into the winter months) frigid, snowy conditions.

The forecasts can always change so, as always, run a final weather check closer to kickoff!

PIT @ BUF (1:00 ET, 45.5 O/U): 15+ mph winds.

HOU @ JAX (1:00 ET, 43.5 O/U): Winds approach 15 mph later in the afternoon.

Quarterbacks to Consider

Potential quarterback targets at high/mid/low price points.

Jalen Hurts, PHI | DK: $8.1k, FD: $8.6k | @ ARI

He didnā€™t have a big game in week four but Hurts is pretty much in ā€œplug and playā€ territory at this point. On top of his NFL-leading 9.1 YPA on passes, heā€™s averaging 13.3 rush att/gm and now has four rushing TDs on the season. In the realm of DFS, Hurts is also a versatile asset. You can roll him out ā€œnakedā€ in lineups or stack him with one or more of his top targets: AJ Brown, DeVonta Smith, or Dallas Goedert. The Eagles will get to play in a domed match-up on Sunday against a Cardinals defense that ranks 29th in overall DVOA.

Tom Brady, TB | DK: $6k, FD: $7.8k | vs. ATL

Bradyā€™s receiving corps finally got healthy in week four and what do ya know? He completed 75.0% of his passes for 385 yards and three TDs! Since he played in primetime on Sunday Night Football, Bradyā€™s biggest game of the season is not factored into his DFS salaries for week five. The Falcons defense is allowing an offensive score on 47.5% of drives (2nd highest in NFL) and Brady has racked up 1,433 yards passing (358.3 YPG) and 15 TDs in his last four meetings with Atlanta. While some of the Bucs receivers are still a little banged up, Brady will definitely have his top two targets, Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, at his disposal as neither guy carries an injury designation into this week.

Teddy Bridgewater, MIA | DK: $5.4k, FD: $6.4k | @ NYJ

Teddy Two Gloves will step in for Tua Tagovailoa (concussion) in week five. Bridgewater has plenty of starting experience under his belt and is a proven ā€œserviceableā€ NFL QB. After Tua exited the game in week four, Bridgewater filled in admirably and averaged 8.4 YPA. He has one of the most dynamic receiving duos at his disposal with Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle out wide. If youā€™re really pinching pennies at quarterback this week, Bridgewater is a worthy bargain option against a Jets defense that ranks 29th in pass DVOA.

Running Backs to Consider

Potential running back targets at high/mid/low price points.

Nick Chubb, CLE | DK: $8k, FD: $9.4k | vs. LAC

Chubb should continue to run wild in week five. He is locked into a 20-touch workload and, thanks in part to a strong Browns O-Line, he is leading all NFL RBs in yards before contact. The Chargers allow the 4th most FPPG to opposing RBs and the 4th most reception/gm to RBs. Of course, Kareem Hunt (DK: $6k, FD: $5.9k) is the preferred pass catcher out of the Browns backfield. However, Chubb has seen three targets in two of his last three games, so he could provide a little receiving upside as well.

Jamaal Williams, DET | DK; $6.5k, FD: $8.3k | @ NE

One of the big chalk plays of week four will look to handle another heavy workload with Dā€™Andre Swift (shoulder) ruled out once again. Williams certainly came through last week, taking 19 carries for 108 yards and two TDs. His ownership on this slate should be a fraction of what it was in week four due to a tougher match-up and increased salaries. However, Iā€™m still on board here. Williams should see upwards of 20 touches and the Lions still boast one of the best O-Lines in the NFL. He has handled a ton of redzone opportunities this season and he owns an 88.2% share of the Lionsā€™ redzone rush attempts. The Patriots also rank 31st in run DVOA so this may not be as tough of a match-up for Williams as some would believe it to be.

James Robinson, JAX | DK: $6.3k, FD: $8k | vs. HOU

Robinsonā€™s low volume from week four shouldnā€™t discourage people from rostering him this Sunday. The Texans are simply too good of a match-up for opposing RBs -- theyā€™re currently allowing the most FPPG to the position along with 5.1 YPC. RBs have also seen 8.8 TGT/gm against Houston (3rd most) so Robinson could pick up a little extra work in the passing game as well.

Damien Harris, NE | DK: $5.6k, FD: $7.2k | vs. DET

Detroit is the match-up that just keeps on giving. Thanks to a bad Lions defense (32nd in overall DVOA) that is attached to a highly capable offense, games where Detroit is involved have had the tendency to turn into shootouts. The four games the Lions have played have averaged 70.25 PPG! With third-string rookie QB Bailey Zappe expected to start this game for New England, they will likely deploy a fairly conservative game plan that will emphasize the ground game. That would bode well for Damien Harrisā€™ potential upside on Sunday and heā€™ll have a shot at 20 touches. As usual, Harris will cede touches to backfield mate Rhamondre Stevenson (DK: $5.5k, FD: $6k). However, the redzone is where Harris has out-worked Stevenson. Harris has 11 RZ opportunities compared to three for Stevenson. Harris has punched in a touchdown in three straight games and the Lions have given up an NFL-high eight TDs to RBs this season.

Breece Hall, NYJ | DK: $5.4k, FD: $6.6k | vs. MIA

Hall saw a season-high 19 opportunities last week and his snap% has increased in three consecutive games. Hall is also seeing a high amount of targets out of the backfield with 6.8 TGT/gm and a 14.9% TGT% on the season. No one is going to be psyched about rostering a Jets RB against a talented Dolphins defensive front, but if Breece Hall continues to operate in a more featured role, heā€™s simply too cheap.

Wide Receivers to Consider

Potential wide receiver targets at high/mid/low price points.

Cooper Kupp, LAR | DK: $9.6k, FD: $9.5k | vs. DAL

Itā€™s always a little difficult to pay up for Kupp unless you roll out multiple value plays and hope for the best, but you know youā€™re getting the best floor in fantasy football when heā€™s in your lineup(s). Everything about Kupp can be classified as ā€œridiculous.ā€ Whether itā€™s his 13.5 TGT/gm, 36.2% TGT%, 44.3% AirYard%, or his 77.8% catch% -- itā€™s all elite level production. After a two-week road trip, the Rams are back home this week where Kupp combined for 24 catches, 236 yards, and three TDs over the first two games of the season.

Tyreek Hill, MIA | DK: $8k, FD: $8.4k | @ NYJ

I wouldnā€™t consider Teddy Bridgewater a major downgrade over Tua Tagovailoa. And one could argue that Bridgewaterā€™s arm strength is better than Tuaā€™s, which only stands to benefit a deep threat like Tyreek Hill. Bridgewater and Hill displayed some nice on-field chemistry last week which included a deep 64-yard connection. The Jetsā€™ secondary has been most vulnerable out of the slot (6th most FPPG allowed) and on the right perimeter (5th most FPPG allowed) -- Tyreek happens to run 73% of his routes from those two positions. We will need to monitor Hillā€™s status leading up to this 1:00 ET kickoff since he is currently questionable with a quad injury. The Dolphins are ā€œhopefulā€ for Hillā€™s availability on Sunday.

Chris Godwin, TB | DK: $5.9k, FD: $7k | vs. ATL

Godwin is finally healthy and wonā€™t carry an injury designation into week five. After a two-game absence, he returned last week to play 83% of snaps and command 10 targets. Godwin should continue to operate as Tom Bradyā€™s safety net over the middle on short-to-intermediate routes that provide a high catch probability. The Falcons have given up the 10th most FPPG to slot WRs this season.

Chris Olave, NO | DK: $5.7k, FD: $6.9k | vs. SEA

Olave is in a league of his own when it comes to intended air yards. His 673 air yards this season are 220 yards MORE than the next closest receiver (Tyreek Hill, 453 IAY). Of course, not every one of those deep throws is connecting but it also isnā€™t as if Olave is only seeing one or two deep shots per game. Heā€™s commanding 9.0 TGT/gm and a 25.9% TGT% with an elite 18.7-yard aDOT! This is also a highly intriguing match-up against a Seahawks defense that ranks last in pass DVOA. Iā€™ll be rolling with Olave as my touchdown call of the week!

Tyler Lockett, SEA | DK: $5.6k, FD: $6.8k | @ NO

Lockett has averaged 10 TGT/gm over the last three weeks and heā€™s catching 79.4% of his targets this season. Saints top corner Marshon Lattimore should be busy covering DK Metcalf for most of this game. That leaves Lockett free to roam against the rest of this Saints secondary that has allowed the 11th most FPPG to WRs this season. New Orleans has also allowed 50% more FPPG to WRs when playing at home (last nine games).

Khalil Shakir, BUF | DK: $3.2k, FD: $5k | vs. PIT

Monitor the status of Isaiah McKenzie (concussion, listed as questionable) ahead of this 1:00 ET kickoff. With Jamison Crowder (ankle) done for the season, if McKenzie also canā€™t play this week, Shakir would take over primary slot duties and play a ton of snaps. Heā€™d be excellent value, especially on DraftKings. If McKenzie is active, Shakir becomes nothing more than a GPP dart throw.

Tight Ends to Consider

Tight end targets at high/mid/low price points.

TJ Hockenson, DET | DK: $4.9k, FD: $7k | @ NE

Many who missed the Hockenson train last week, when he put up a mammoth 8-179-2 receiving line, might be trying to buy a ticket this week. Expectations should be tempered, especially if Amon-Ra St. Brown (ankle) returns to action. But, overall, the Lions receiving corps is still a bit banged up so Hockenson should be locked into around 6-10 targets. The Patriots have also allowed an NFL-high five touchdowns to tight ends this season.

Dallas Goedert, PHI | DK: $4.7k, FD: $6.1k | @ ARI

The Cardinals have gone up against some high-end tight ends this season, including Travis Kelce and Darren Waller, but it is still worth noting that they are giving up the most FPPG to the position with an average receiving line of 7-85.3-0.8. Goedert is 7th among tight ends with an 83.1% snap% and he has either caught a touchdown or recorded 60+ receiving yards in every game this season. Heā€™s a nice floor option on this slate and could be due for a ceiling game soon.

Cade Otton, TB | DK: $2.5k, FD: $4.1k | vs. ATL

Here is your tight end punt of the week. Cameron Brate (concussion) has already been ruled out for this week. After Brate left the game last week, Otton ended up playing 67% of snaps and catching 3-of-4 targets for 29 yards. The rookie should continue to operate as the primary pass-catching tight end and having Tom Brady as your QB is never a bad thing. The Falcons have also allowed the 3rd most FPPG to TEs this season.

Defenses to Consider

D/ST is a very volatile ā€œpositionā€ and shouldnā€™t take up too much time in your DFS research. However, here are some D/STs Iā€™m on board with this week.

Stud D/ST: San Francisco 49ers | DK: $3.8k, FD: $4.4k | @ CAR

Mid-Range: Tennessee Titans | DK: $3k, FD: $4.2k | @ WAS

DraftKings Value: Dallas Cowboys | DK: $2.5k, FD: $4.1k | @ LAR

Stacks & Bring Backs šŸ„ž

Below are a few team/game stack ideas to consider for this slate. In some examples, I will include a ā€œbring backā€ option which will feature a normal "QB + Receiver" stack along with a player from the opposing team in the same game that could also benefit should the primary "QB + Receiver" stack go off.

QB + WR + Opp Receiver

Tom Brady, Chris Godwin, Drake London

QB + WR + Opp Receiver

Teddy Bridgewater, Tyreek Hill, Garrett Wilson

QB + Two Pass Catchers (aka ā€œDouble Stackā€)

Jalen Hurts, AJ Brown, Dallas Goedert

QB + Two Pass Catchers (aka ā€œDouble Stackā€)

Josh Allen, Stefon Diggs, Gabe Davis

Full Team Stack - QB/WR/RB

Trevor Lawrence, Christian Kirk, James Robinson

Value Team Stack

Zach Wilson, Elijah Moore, Breece Hall

ā€œUgly Duckling Stackā€ | QB + WR + Opp RB
