Week 16 DFS Main Slate Rundown 📝

Happy Holidays to you all and I sincerely hope everyone is staying warm while much of America deals with this brutal cold snap! Most folks are very busy around this time of year so we’re going to keep things very short, sweet, and to the point for this week’s NFL main slate newsletter. The normal content routine will get back on track next week but this NFL edition will substitute individual player breakdowns for a cheat sheet format. Enjoy the holidays and be sure to make time for friends and family this weekend… or just relax on the couch with a few hot toddies and watch as much football as possible -- both are solid options.

Weather Report

As a reminder, weather plays less of a factor in football than it does in other sports but it is still worth making note of any games that could see wet conditions, high winds, or (when we get into the winter months) frigid, snowy conditions.

The forecasts can always change so, as always, run a final weather check closer to kickoff!

We’ve got quite the unique main slate this week, as far as weather conditions go. There are only two games on Saturday that will be played indoors and the rest of the country is nearly frozen solid. Cold temps alone don’t have a major impact on overall scoring but we will still highlight games with some notable weather impacts.

DET @ CAR (1:00 ET, 43.5 O/U): Temps in the 20s with ~10 mph winds. Certainly cold for the Carolinas but not as bad as other outdoor games on this slate.

ATL @ BAL (1:00 ET, 34.5 O/U): Temps in the teens with 15+ mph winds and stronger gusts.

SEA @ KC (1:00 ET, 49.5 O/U): Game time temps around 10-15 degrees with 10-15 mph winds. It won’t be pleasant weather to play in but this game still holds the highest total on the slate.

BUF @ CHI (1:00 ET, 40 O/U): Single-digit temps with 20 mph sustained winds (30+ mph gusts). The passing game gets a downgrade here.

CIN @ NE (1:00 ET, 41.5 O/U): Temps in the high teens with 10-15 mph winds. Pretty “par for the course” as far as weather goes for this slate.

HOU @ TEN (1:00 ET, 35.5 O/U): Near-identical conditions as the CIN @ NE game above.

NO @ CLE (1:00 ET, 32 O/U): Likely the worst conditions on the slate. Temps around 10 degrees but the wind is the big factor here. 25-30 mph sustained winds with 40+ mph gusts. Chance for snow, as well. The wind chill factor could make it “feel” as low as -25 degrees during this game. Rough stuff. Not surprising to see a slate-low 32 O/U here.

D/ST is a very volatile “position” and shouldn’t take up too much time in your DFS research. However, here are some D/STs I’m on board with this week.

Mid-Range D/ST: New Orleans Saints | DK: $2.8k, FD: $3.8k | @ CLE

Below are a few team/game stack ideas to consider for this slate. In some examples, I will include a “bring back” option which will feature a normal "QB + Receiver" stack along with a player from the opposing team in the same game that could also benefit should the primary "QB + Receiver" stack go off.
